Rogue Beer & Cheese Tasting

A little late in posting about the Rogue Beer & Cheese Tasting, but I’ve been busy with work, wedding and house paperwork fun.

We met up with our drinking buddies that P met at a MeetUp group; Heather and her husband Todd. They were kind enough to pre-purchase tickets for us at a discount since they’re part of Rogue’s membership club.

It looked like a full event and you could tell from amount of body heat in the room. After a few drinks though you start to not care about things like that.

Before getting into the tastings, Fred started us out with a shot of Rogue Dead Guy Whiskey which was pretty good.

Here’s the list of beer and cheese combos we tried in order:

1. Full Sail LTD 03 Lager paired with Ferns Edge Fresh Chevre

2. Eugene City Brewery Honey Orange Wheat paired with Willamette Valley Gouda

3. Rogue Hazelnut Brown paired with Alsea Feta

4. Rogue Dead Guy Ale paired with Monteillet Fromagerie Mejean

5. Rogue Mocha Porter paired with Rogue Creamery Stout Cheddar

6. Deschutes Twilight Ale paired with Bravo Cheddar Special Reserve

7. Terminal Gravity IPA paired with Cypress Grove Humboldt Fog

8. Issaquah Brewery Menage a Frog paired with Rogue Creamery Chipotle Cheddar

9. Hair of the Dog Fred paired with Rogue Creamery Oregonzola

10. Rogue Imperial Stout paired with Maytag Blue of Iowa

I’d have to say my favorite cheeses were the stout cheddar, chipotle cheddar and the Humboldt Fog just for its weirdness. The humboldt wasn’t the best tasting one at first, but it left a very nice honey after taste which I was surprised by.

Although the event was fun I’d have to say I had cheese overload by the end of it.
