Portland International Beer festival 2008

Portland International Beer festival 2008

Oh, look…another beer festival in Portland. This weekend was the Portland International Beer festival (even though it goes to a Seattle site for some reason). This was hosted in the Pearl District – North Park Blocks which is only a few blocks from my work. Here they had a great selection of 130 beers from 15 different countries which also included several from local Oregon breweries.

I decided to go here after a morning viewing (9:30 AM to be precise) of Batman: The Dark Knight which I have to say was the BEST movie of the year in my opinion. The acting, story and action scenes were amazing.

While at the festival I decided to partake in the following beers:

Dogfish Head Brewery
Burton Baton – Double IPA (Delaware) 10% ABV
United International Distributor
Ola Dubh 30 Year Highland Park – Single Malt Barrel-aged Scottish Old Ale (Scotland) 8% ABV
Full Sail Brewery
Top Sail Bourbon-Aged Imperial Porter – Barrel-Aged Imperial Porter (Oregon) 9.9% ABV
D & V International
Belzebuth – Malt Liquor of Certain Death (France) 13% ABV
Mountain Meadows Meadery
Cranberry Mead – Mead (California) 14% ABV
B. United International
Almond’22 Torbata – Peat Smoked Italian Barleywine (Italy) 8.7% ABV

Overall I enjoyed each one, but I’d have to say my favorite was the Almond’22 Torbata for its unique flavor. A great movie and good beer…all in all a good day.
